This hotel is located next to the Tropen Museum which is part of the Royal Tropical Institute (K.I.T). Directly within the vicinity are the Soeterijn Theatre, shops and the daily "dapper" market. The famous Waterloo Square with its market, Artis Zoo and Hortus Botanicus are only a short walk away and central station is only 10minutes by tram.Rooms: the bedrooms are virtually all medium sized. Half are tastefully decorated with pastel coloured carpets and contrasting furnishings in bright patterns. The other half have been renovated in 2004 and offer more deluxe accommodation with wood flooring and a beige and burgundy colour scheme making this an excellent 3 star product. The small bathrooms are also in very good condition.Restaurant:the restaurant is a large dining room lacking any real atmosphere, although newly decorated.Exterior: the hotel is a 10-storey modern block which has some pleasant views over the surrounding area, especially from the upper level.Lobby: the medium sized lobby is brightly decorated and leads to an attractive bar area.General:this hotel has greatly benefited from the renovation of the bedrooms. The remaining bedrooms are due to be renovated in 2005 but this is still an excellent 3 star property in a very pleasant surroundings, close to the very heart of Amsterdam.
